“I go to Paris, I go to London, I go to Rome, and I always say, “There’s no place like New York. It’s the most exciting city in the world now. That’s the way it is. That’s it.” Robert De Niro

Is it just me or have the nightly rates of accommodations become ridiculously over priced? And what about finding said accommodations? Finding what you’re looking for in accommodations when it comes to location, quality and affordability has become more and more of a challenge. For those of us who believe planning is half the fun, booking accommodations is fast becoming a royal pain in the arse.
Never let it be said that there is not a lot to shout about when it comes to points programs. Abi and I have been working the points programs for years (and years). And I talk about Hilton so much that maybe one day the company’s powers-to-be will pay me to stay with them! Ha!
I caught the gist of the phrase based on what I was hearing on the news, but I have to admit I still went to everyone’s back-up source and Googled the term.
Organized chaos. It’s the title of my – our – life these days.
Here’s the thing, we actually closed escrow on the sale of Abigail’s on March 31. Yep. It’s true. Let no one have any doubt that I can keep a secret. Ha!
“It’s so nice to see someone who eats so much fresh food,” said the man standing in line behind me at the Costco check out. I turned, smiled, and replied, “Well, the truth of the matter is I own a B&B in Ashland and this is my weekly run.”
I think the biggest misconception about B&B’s – for people who have never stayed at a B&B, or for those who are just unaware – is that a B&B is not a hostel. And, there are those who do not seem to understand the difference.
It’s a rare thing to have the inn to ourselves – very rare – but the other night I took the opportunity to actually sit in the unusually quiet dining room to work on my weekly breakfast menu planning, bacon & eggs and so much more, while Abi watched the world cup soccer game back in our apartment. It’s true. I admit it. I could care less about watching the world cup soccer games. Am I the only one?
Do you stay in B&B’s when you travel? That’s probably one of the most frequently asked questions from our guests. We always smile, look at each other with a secret little gleam in our eyes, and answer, “No, we don’t.” And, of course, the next question is, why not?
There’s never a dull moment when you own/operate a Bed and Breakfast. Trust me on this. Last night I prepped a large baking dish of French toast souffle, (it has to refrigerate overnight) only to discover this morning that two of our guests left early.
