Picture Perfect Lunenburg, Nova Scotia

January 20, 2023 by Patti 6 Comments
Lunenburg

Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. It truly is picture perfect. So much so that Old Town Lunenburg is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. How many charming seaside fishing villages can make that claim? It was just five months ago, after spending 10 days on Prince Edward Island, Canada, that we made our way to Lunenburg. Little did we know we’d be mesmerized.

The Canadian Potato Museum & North Cape

November 5, 2022 by Patti 6 Comments

A potato museum? We didn’t know there was such a place, but then sometimes the best part of traveling is finding the unexpected. That’s just what happened while we were exploring Prince Edward Island. We discovered the Canadian Potato Museum. Who knew? Can you guess what’s on the lunch menu?

The Inspiration Behind Anne of Green Gables

September 24, 2022 by Patti 2 Comments

Anne of Green Gables. The iconic novel is deeply rooted in the natural wonders of Prince Edward Island. I remember hiking the Homestead Trail in Cavendish National Park and thinking it was as if we were walking through the pages of Anne of Green Gables. It was picture postcard perfect.

Kensington, Fried Chicken & Cinnamon Rolls

August 31, 2022 by Patti 3 Comments

Kensington, PEI. It’s a small blink of a town with a 4-way intersection and a population of maybe 2,000. The neighborhood streets are lined with cozy homes and almost every home has an immaculate garden bursting with glorious colors. It’s the same all over PEI. Some, are extraordinary and we were in awe of the time spent in maintaining such a yard. Kensington is just a few miles from Summerside where we based ourselves for ten days while exploring the island.

The Floating Boardwalk of Greenwich National Park

August 21, 2022 by Patti 10 Comments

The floating boardwalk of Greenwich National Park can be found on Prince Edward Island. It was the first adventure we set our sights on after arriving on PEI. We settled in to our accommodations for the next ten days and got busy mapping our path of adventure.

The Canadian Border & New Destinations

July 18, 2022 by Patti 9 Comments

It’s been a few years, four to be exact, since we found ourselves crossing the Canadian Border. Our return is a bit overdue. But, as we all know, life and pandemics get in the way of making plans. Do you still make plans? I’ve pretty much given up on the concept of long-range plans. Too many changes, too often, in this new normal.

  • We encourage all of our readers to wear a mask, get vaccinated and stay safe while on the road.

Road Trip! The Canadian View of Niagara Falls

August 30, 2018 by Patti 14 Comments
Canadian

We’ve crossed the Canadian border more times than I can remember, but never before have we been asked if we had weapons in the car.  And, it was the Canadian border patrol doing the asking, the US border patrol didn’t ask.  Sadly, I think it may be a sign of the times.  Aside from a few questions such as in which state do we live, where were we going and how long would we be there, along with a quick scan of our passports, crossing the border was a drive-through breeze.  It was just a matter of waiting our turn.

Crossing the Border: Toronto, Canada

June 17, 2016 by Patti 14 Comments
Toronto

I have been at a loss for words for a time, hence the somewhat long delay between published posts.  I think the news out of Orlando, Florida took the wind out of my sails and left me wordless.  Hard to imagine, me being wordless, but there you go.

What Can I Tell You About Niagara Falls?

May 25, 2016 by Patti 11 Comments
Niagara Falls

What can I tell you about Niagara Falls that you don’t already know?  Probably not much.  But what I can tell you is it’s true what they (who’s they?!) say, the view from the Canadian side is the view to see.  Okay, I say that even though we didn’t visit the falls from the US side, but when you’re on the Canadian side, there’s no arguing the point.
