Mexico is an exotic vacation spot offering some fantastic destinations to visit. A great way to explore this location is by embarking on a sea voyage and many Caribbean cruises offer the chance to take in Mexican ports of call. The following are some of our favourites:
Cozumel
This island lies off the east coast of Mexico and is the perfect place to enjoy the beach and water sports. White sands, tranquil blue waters and coral reefs of the Chankanaab National Park provide the opportunity to relax or take a swim and see some of the marine wildlife plus underwater caves formed from limestone. There are also dolphinariums on the island for those that have always dreamed of taking a swim with these animals.
Mazatlan
This destination boasts a 17-mile long beach that has waves for surfers and swimmers. There is more to this place than beaches, though, with the city known as one of the 13 man-made wonders of Mexico. The old colonial core has some beautiful Spanish architecture and the buildings in this area are definitely worth seeing.
Costa Maya
The attractions of Costa Maya include the chance to see some of Mexico’s ancient history. There are remains of the Mayan empire close by that can be toured to view some of the pyramids this famous Mexican civilization constructed. Other attractions in the area include the calm waters of the Lake of Seven Colors, with the natural beauty of this location a must-see.
Progreso
Located on the Gulf of Mexico’s Emerald Coast, this is a hotspot where Mayan culture is visible at the Uxmal ruins. Progreso is becoming a popular seaside resort town, with its pristine beaches being an attraction for many. The nearby city of Merida is a center of Mexican handcrafts and a place to buy some impressive souvenirs – why not invest in a hammock or a Panama hat?

Uxmal Ruins
Cabo San Lucas
Located on the tip of the Baja Peninsula, this resort city is a favorite of many. Visitors can spend time on the beach and see the landmark sight of the El Arco rock formation. Other highlights include whale watching and the historic center of San Jose del Cabo.
A Caribbean cruise is the perfect vacation trip for many and provides the opportunity to see some great sights in Mexico. There are a number of cruise lines running these trips, so browse around to find a ship that suits your tastes plus an itinerary you will enjoy whether you are an activity seeker or a sun worshipper.
