A few days ago I was inspired by Kim at So Many Places to stop, take 5 minutes and write a letter of gratitude to my life. At the time I was reading her blog post I was particularly tired, it’s a busy life – that of an innkeeper, and it struck a chord with me right at that moment that I should be grateful I have a life that gives me the opportunity to feel good about the work I do… and that I have this life. So I took Kim’s advice and wrote my letter right then and there.

Dear Life ~Thank you for allowing me to wake up each morning.
Thank you for giving Abi and I the courage to completely change our lives 2 1/2 years ago, it’s been an amazing journey and we’ve never once looked back. With that being said, thank you in advance for helping me to live in the moment instead of always thinking 3 steps ahead of today.

Thank you for Kim – who’s been an endless source of support and friendship as I slogged my way through the world of blogging. I don’t think she really understands how much she has given me. And thank you for introducing me to Talon and the blogging community which I have grown very fond of – what a small world it really is.
Thank you for Good Earth decaf tea and the sun under which I brew the tea; the tea that gets me through the hot summer months. And thank you for soy iced sweet chai lattes, of which I should not drink quite so many.
Thank you for bringing the love of his life to my son, thank you for their upcoming wedding nuptials and thank you for letting me know that his heart will be full and he will be loved.Thank you for this amazing man I have shared the past 34 years with and with whom I eagerly look forward to the next chapter.
Oh… and thank you for beaches, mountain lakes and for chocolate… and, margaritas (and Sangria).

Sangria & Margarita – Cheers!
Love, Patti
What a great idea. Sometimes we don’t take time to thank God for the little, every day things that make up our lives.
Thanks so much for reading Elizabeth! It’s always good to take a few moments to reflect!
Great letter Patti and a great idea from Kim. I’ll have to give this a go myself; being on the road especially makes me realise how much I have to be thankful for.
Thanks Amy! It really is a good exercise in gratitude to take just a moment to be thankful for one’s life.
Patti, I love it. Thank YOU for sharing yourself with us. XO
Thanks for reading, Kim! And welcome back to the U.S.!
This was lovely. Not sure my gratitude letter would fit in this box but would definitely have you on it. Thank you for sharing these ideas and thoughts.
You’re welcome – also very grateful to have found you sitting in the front row of class. That was a good day!
Dear Life,
Brilliant maneuver sitting me next to the new girl in second grade.
Thank you.
Ah… I love you right back!
What a lovely gratitude letter! It sounds like you have much to be grateful for and are continuing to design your life in an intentional way. I am inspired and will follow suit!
Thank you Tiffany – I do have much to be grateful for. I think we all get so caught up in the business of our lives it’s easy to forget to take time to reflect and say thank you. I’m working on being better at that!
I may try this tonight when, as usual, I can’t sleep. This would be a much better user of my time and brain than ruminating about—not being able to sleep. I know I feel immensely grateful everyday. Why not write it down—maybe even with a own and paper.
Much better than counting sheep! I often times get so busy I forget to remember how much I appreciate my life – and the choices we’ve made. Thanks for reading, Suzanne!
