I should say right up front that I am not a big Willie Nelson fan, but I don’t dislike him either.  As we prepare to hit the road tomorrow I’ve had this song running through my head for most of the day. Sing it Willie!

On the Road Again.  Well, actually, I’ve had the Carly Rae Jepson song, Call Me Maybe stuck in my head for days (and days) and for that I blame Ellen.  And, really, I’m a bit too old mature to have Carly in my head!  If you watch Ellen’s show faithfully, like I do, you’ll know of what I speak when I refer to Amy quoting song lyrics (to complete strangers) in random stores.  Some of the funniest moments on television.  I was hoping Willie would tune out Carly but so far it hasn’t worked.

On the Road to Bryce and Zion

So, along with Carly and Willie and Adele, because I never go anywhere without Adele, we are packing up and getting ready to hit the road, destination Bryce and Zion Canyons.  The storms of recent days have passed by and left us with clear crisp travel weather and for that we are grateful because if you’ve ever had to drive the Mt. Shasta and Mt. Siskiyou passes, you’re super happy when the weather is clear and the passes are open.  The tire chains will come along for the ride anyway because we have no idea of what we’ll encounter on the return trip.  With any luck though, they won’t come out of the trunk.  Is there a song for putting chains on your tires?!

Once we cross over the passes we’ll be heading off toward Nevada passing through Reno (sorry for not stopping to say hello to my DCHS peeps) and on to Las Vegas.  We have a small contingency of extended family in Las Vegas where two adorable toddlers live so we will stop and relax for a couple of days.  From there it is a hop, skip and a jump to Springdale, Utah, which will be our base while we explore the wonders of Bryce and Zion Parks and any other spectacular sites we happen upon.

So stay tuned and follow along, won’t you?  And if you have any suggestions for good road tunes that will help me get Carly out of my head, I’d really like to hear from you!
