Rogue River Guides & Chefs ~

October 16, 2012 by Patti 6 Comments

There are multiple reasons why I launched this blog.  Being one of a gazillion other travel blogs is not on top of the list, but I do have a few good reasons.  While there are indeed a LOT of travel blogs (and various assorted other blogs) out there, I wanted to put just a bit of a different spin on mine and I knew food needed to be a piece of the puzzle.

Ashland, On the Right Road ~

October 14, 2012 by Patti 13 Comments

If you had told me five years ago that today, October 14, 2012, I would be living in Ashland, Oregon, owning and operating a bed and breakfast inn and launching my 2nd blog, I would have told you, “I don’t think so.”  And yet, here I am doing just that.

Return to Ashland, OR ~

October 10, 2012 by Patti No Comments
Yesterday (6/3/11) we flew from Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles with a connecting flight to Portland, OR.  Because we couldn’t connect with a “puddle-jumper” flight to Medford (just 10 miles from Ashland) we had to rent a car and drive 5 hours from Portland to Ashland.

Destination: Washington DC

October 10, 2012 by Patti No Comments

May 28, ’11 –  Yeah baby!  We did it!  3,760 miles from our front door in Ashland, OR to our hotel entrance in Washington DC and right on schedule.  We arrived in D.C. to 89 degrees and clear blue skies and our first sighting was that of Georgetown University, on the hill overlooking the Potomac River, and it was a special moment as we have so many fond memories of Dustin’s four years at Georgetown.

It’s Raining in Youngstown, Ohio

October 9, 2012 by Patti No Comments
Youngstown, Ohio.  Yesterday morning the first thing we did was turn on the news for the weather report.  Although the path of the storms would cross where we were headed, the storms were breaking up.  We decided to go for it; thinking we would stop if it got too bad.  We left Milwaukee at 9:16 a.m. The temperature was 46 degrees and the wind was nasty.  We hit Chicago and it was raining pretty hard and the traffic was awful.

The Oregon Trail & Fort Laramie

October 9, 2012 by Patti 2 Comments

Remember?  I am a lover of history, especially American history and the settling of the American west, so you’ll understand why today’s (Saturday, May 21) history tour was a HUGELY happy day for me.

Flaming Gorge Natl Recreation Area

October 9, 2012 by Patti No Comments
>Friday morning, May 20, we had planned to visit a place called Flaming Gorge Natl Recreation Area, which on the map looked to be very near the town of Green River, where we stayed Thursday night. We had no idea what we were heading in to and what we thought would be an hour-long side trip, turned in to 6 hours and a 132-mile loop!

Road Trip: East to Wyoming

October 8, 2012 by Patti 1 Comment

East to Wyoming.  Once we settled in to our rental house, in Ashland, we had about six weeks to call our own before we had to get down to business.  What to do?!  What to do?!  Road Trip!

How to Survive a Timeshare Pitch ~

October 7, 2012 by Patti 4 Comments

Way back in another lifetime when we were much (much) younger, we were married in Honolulu, HI.  Just the two of us, a judge, and the judges’ clerks who served as our witnesses.  It wasn’t a formal wedding by any stretch of the imagination, but it was our wedding and it stuck!

The Grandeur of Yosemite National Park

September 24, 2012 by Patti 4 Comments

Yosemite has been a big huge significant influential part of our lives.  I’ve lost track of how many times we’ve visited Yosemite, long before the days of digital, that’s for certain.  Many, many years ago we took to traveling for the 4-day Thanksgiving weekend, almost always to the Sierra’s, the CA gold country and many visits to Yosemite.
